And so our adventure begins....

Darcy wanted to try to save money by growing some of our own veggies this summer. Nevermind the fact that he has NEVER grown vegetables or even gone to a pick your own farm in his life.

In the past, I have always grown just a few tomato plants and some herbs (basil and parsley) in a small makeshift garden along our one fence wall in the back yard. The first year we did this I ended up with 6 foot tall tomato plants with loads of tomatoes... so many I couldn't eat them all. Last year, was a different story... I had teeny tiny plants with hardly any tomatoes, my attempt at zucchini failed miserably and I eventually gave up on it altogether.

So with renewed vigour this year we are about to start on our brand new, expanded garden armed with more knowledge and confidence.

I have decided to keep a blog about my experience as during my research it has been suggested many times to take notes and keep records of what you did, what did and did not work and how you planned out your garden so you can refer back to it next year and learn from it. Let's hope this works and with a little effort, luck and co-operation from mother nature, we'll succeed in our plan and have plenty of veggies this summer and save a bit of cash!
